I am the
fourth generation of artists from my mother’s side of
the family. I can hardly remember my great grandmother
but I have clear art memories of mother’s and
grandmother’s ability. Art is something I have always
done. My interest in the outdoors and its creatures are
strongly reflected in my work. My essential academic
basics were learned by examples at home and on to the
University of Texas.
I moved to
Encinitas, California in 1974 and enrolled in our local
community college where I discovered printmaking,
specifically the etching process. It has been my medium
for over 25 years. I studied under Bill Baldwin, Frank
Jones and Bill Kelly, the owner of Brighton Press.
Because
drawing is something I enjoy, etching and scratchboard
are my perfect mediums. I am currently working on a
series of linoleum block prints.
For the last
4 years I have been on the board of directors for the
Del Mar Art Center which is a non-profit organization
for San Diego’s local artists. I currently show in
Colorado, Texas, California and now Wyoming.
