Bernie Jensen
An avid sportsman, Bernie Jensen has
always loved the outdoors and wildlife. He spends much of his time
in the field studying his subject matter and collecting reference
material for his paintings. He believes knowing and understanding
the animal and its habitat is as critical to a painting as
creativity and composition. A dedicated conservationist, Bernie
feels our wilderness areas and wildlife are an important natural
resource and he ardently supports proper range and habitat
management.
Although his art studies have been
independent and self-directed, Bernie has had encouragement from
many outstanding western and wildlife artists including Dave Wade,
Clark Kelly Price, and Nancy Glazier. Bernie has gradually changed
his style from illustrative to a more painterly style, using brush
strokes to sculpt his paintings. He is striving to depict light,
color, and mood rather than detail, and has developed fresh new
colors which enhance his subject matter while maintaining a natural
look.
Bernie artwork has appeared in many
publications such as: Wildlife Art News, Bugle Magazine, Informart,
Field and Stream Cabela’s. His works are displayed in Mountain
Trails in Park City, UT; J. Moore Gallery in Big Fork, MT; Montana
Trails in Bozeman, MT; and Cody Fine Art Gallery in Cody, WY. Bernie
and his wife, Virginia, make their home in wild and wonderful
Wyoming where he enjoys the inspiration and beauty of the rugged
land and plentiful wildlife.
