Ray Brown, artistRay Brown

Ray has been working as an artist since he graduated from college with a B.S. in visual communications. He worked mostly as an illustrator and graphic designer in and around Baltimore, Maryland where, until recently, he had lived all his life. Although he enjoyed working as an artist he was creating work according to the commercial needs at hand. He longed to create the kind of work that would combine his love of nature, wildlife and the outdoors with his artistic sensibilities and experience.

In 2003 an opportunity arose. Ray’s wife Maria’s career had them move to Southern California. Ray left his job in Baltimore and decided to do his best to build the kind of career that would keep him inspired. Since moving to California, Ray has been focused on doing the kind of work he has always wanted. Combining his love of drawing with his love of nature. The result is Ray Brown Art - The Nature Of Graphite.

Ray’s art is a reflection of his experiences in the field. He uses only his own photos and adventures as reference for his work. Spending as much time as he can in the field, traveling through our National Parks and visiting our country’s other natural wonders both great and small, Ray gathers the inspiration and reference he needs. Ray says, “ Each time I take a trip I am amazed. I get so excited to be in places like Yellowstone or Alaska, I hope some of that shines through in my art.” Ray has found the creative inspiration he wished for in the effort to communicate his excitement and love for nature.
